Dear St. Catherine of Siena Parishioners,
It is with great joy that I annouce that two New Orleans seminarians will be serving at St. Catherine of Siena this summer.
Seminarian Kevin Seay will be ordained a transitional deacon on May 21, 2022, at St. Louis Cathedral. After his ordination, Deacon Kevin will be assigned to serve at St. Catherine of Siena for his diaconate internship which will start at the beginning of June and conclude in mid-October. We are looking forward to having Kevin serve at SCS! Please pray for Kevin as he prepares for his diaconate ordination.
Seminarian Eddie Bergeron just finished his second year of seminary formation at St. Joseph Seminary College. Eddie will be at SCS for an eight-week summer internship during June and July. To learn more about these seminarians, please see their letters of introduction below.
Having two seminarians assigned to SCS is a great testament to our parish community. The Archdiocese and the seminary have entrusted two men preparing for the priesthood to serve here and to be formed in preparation for future priestly ministry. St. Catherine of Siena is known for being an active, faith-filled community that welcomes and supports vocations. For the last eight years, SCS has been blessed to have a number of transitional deacons and seminary interns.
Thank you to Rich and Leslie Baudry and to the SCS vocations committee for their efforts in helping to create a culture of vocations at St. Catherine. Thank you to all who pray for vocations, particularly those who take part in our vocation cross program. Please continue to pray for vocations specifcally from SCS. There are currently a number of young men considering entering the seminary from SCS. Please pray for them and their discernment.
Fr. Tim
Growing up, I belonged to both St. Clement of Rome and St. Angela Merici parishes. I'm the youngest in my family and joined my brother, Brian, and cousins, the Gruezkes, at Jesuit High School. I graduated in 2011. After high school, finding a Catholic college where I could grow in the faith became a priority. I attended a small Catholic liberal arts college called the University of Dallas and double majored in theology and economics. Then, I spent 3 years in St. Louis, Missouri, getting a master’s degree in moral theology. Family, Catholic schooling, a love of studying theology, and prayer all played big parts in my decision to enter seminary in 2018. Within the first year of seminary, I was fairly certain that God was calling me to the priesthood. God-willing, I will be ordained a priest next summer. Being assigned to St. Catherine is a great blessing, and I look forward to serving you all as a deacon.
I have grew up and lived in Covington, Louisiana my whole life. During the end of high school, I was drawn to the priesthood, and I entered Saint Joseph’s Seminary College right after I graduated high school at the age of 17. I am now 19 years old and I will be moving on to my junior year. I am excited to serve at Saint Catherine of Siena this summer and I hope y’all will have a very good, and faith filled summer. God bless!
