LETTER FROM FR. TIM

Dear St. Catherine of Siena Parishioners,

Over the last five years, we have been blessed to have Fr. Andrew Gutierrez serving at St. Catherine of Siena.  He completed his diaconate internship in 2018 and then returned to serve as our parochial vicar since 2019.  Fr. Andrew is an incredibly gifted priest of Jesus Christ, and he has served our parish extremely well!  

Effective July 1, Fr. Andrew will be assigned full-time to Notre Dame Seminary.  He will be on the formation team and will teach upon the completion of his advanced degree in Sacramental Theology.  Fr. Andrew would make an incredible pastor, but the Archbishop firmly believes in sending the best priests to the seminary in order to help form future priests.   These priests have a multiplier effect on the future priests.  I have no doubt that Fr. Andrew will be a great seminary formator! We will invite him to come back to SCS as often as he is able to help out.

Fr. Andrew’s last day at St. Catherine will be Sunday, May 21, 2023. Everyone is invited to a special reception for Fr. Andrew on Saturday, May 20, after the vigil Mass to thank him for his ministry at SCS. When he leaves in May, he will take a much-deserved vacation before returning to Chicago for his further studies. After completing another summer of school, he will begin his assignment at the seminary.

While we are sad to see Fr. Andrew leave, we are extremely happy to welcome back Deacon (soon to be Father) Kevin Seay as our next parochial vicar!  Deacon Kevin will be ordained as a priest of Jesus Christ on June 3, 2023, at St. Louis Cathedral at 10 am. Everyone is invited to attend his ordination. If you have never witnessed an ordination, I highly encourage you to attend because it is a powerful experience.

Fr. Jeremy and I look forward to serving with Fr. Kevin! I am sure everyone is looking forward to welcoming Fr. Kevin home.

Please continue to pray for our parish daily! Please pray that we will use this time of Lent to draw closer to Jesus! Please pray that each of us will be more open to following the Holy Spirit in our everyday lives!

LETTER FROM FR. ANDREW

Dear St. Catherine of Siena Parishioners,

My heart is filled with both sadness and excitement with the announcement of my new assignment to full-time ministry at Notre Dame Seminary. I am humbled by the request of Archbishop Aymond to form future priests for Holy Mother Church. I would like to thank all parishioners for their support of my priesthood and ministry as well as the witness of your own faith which personally inspires me. 

That being said, we still have two more months together during which the Lord desires to continue his work of building up the Kingdom. The Lord can work in tremendous ways in a very short time and when we least expect it. We must continue to strive for holiness and friendship with Jesus together. I am still available and committed to walking with you until my last day assigned to this parish family that has become my home over the past five years. As my first assignment, you will always have a very special place in my heart - I love y’all!

LETTER FROM DCN. KEVIN

Dear SCS Parishioners,

Three weeks ago I was in St. Catherine’s adoration chapel when Archbishop Aymond called me to give me my first priestly assignment. I was thrilled to be assigned back to this wonderful parish that has so many people I already know and love. In some ways, it feels like I never left. You all have continued to be on my mind and in my prayers. I also always look forward to the times I can leave the seminary and head to St. Catherine for adoration or a parish event.

It will be an honor serving you and being a presence in your lives. I pray that the Lord works through my service in a way that benefits you and those you love.

Please pray for me as I finish up my studies and prepare to receive the graces of ordination.
