Dear SCS Parishioners, 

I am happy to announce that a new youth minister has been hired. After carefully reviewing all of the many applicants, the search committee unanimously recommended hiring Bernadette Mahoney as our next youth minister.  

Starting June 15, Bernadette will serve as our full-time Director of Youth Ministry.  She will be responsible for Confirmation Preparation and the Parish School of Religion in addition to CYO and Jr. CYO. 

Bernadette was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and came to New Orleans often to visit family that live in the area. She attended Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart in Houston and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology and Catechetics from Franciscan University of Steubenville. She has spent the past two years as the Middle School Religion Teacher at St. Peter Catholic School in Covington, Louisiana, and has helped with Youth Faith Formation at St. Peter Parish and high school youth group at Mary, Queen of Peace, in Mandeville.  Her heart has been transformed by God through middle and high school youth ministry and she is committed to guiding teens as they grow in their relationship with Christ as disciples. She is looking forward to meeting and getting to know the parishioners of St. Catherine of Siena.

I would like to thank Fr. Andrew for serving as the interim youth minister for the last several months.  He does great ministry with the youth of our parish!
