Michelle Buisson Alley graduated from the University of New Orleans with a BA in Education in 1986. She began teaching at St. Benilde School in 1986 and at St. Catherine of Siena School in 1988 before moving to Baton Rouge. In Baton Rouge, she volunteered in the Parish School of Religion at St. Thomas More Catholic Church and eventually accepted a position as Director of Liturgy in 2001. She returned to New Orleans in 2004. She received Basic Certification in Religious Education through the Archdiocese of New Orleans in 2007 and began teaching Religion at St. Catherine of Siena School. Michelle completed two years of spiritual, intellectual, human, and pastoral formation offered through the “Institute for Lay Ecclesial Ministry” program at Notre Dame Seminary and in May 2015 was commissioned as a Lay Ecclesial Minister. For her Co-Workers practicum, she offered student formation outside of the classroom environment focusing on Christian leadership. She also provided formation for teachers and parents which emphasized the school’s catholic identity while encouraging parish involvement. She has been married to her husband Chris for 31 years and they are parents to Chris, Jr. (and his wife Anne), Rebecca (and her husband Brandon), Brenna, Mikey and Christa. In July of 2015, Michelle joined our ministry team as the Director of Religious Education at St. Catherine of Siena Parish until 2018. After serving as the Coordinator of Religious Education at St. Ann for two years, Michelle returned to St. Catherine of Siena in a new role as the Director of Liturgy & Sacraments.
